Reminiscenses

A collection of short stories written by early settlers of northern Lancaster County Nebraska.

While researching for the Oak Creek Cemetery website, one of the books used was the "Plat Book of Lancaster County Nebraska" by The Brown-Scoville Publishing Co. 1903. This book contains plat maps for all the precincts of Lancaster county in 1903. It also has pages of portraits along with personal stories, told by the settlers themselves. These tales give a glimpse of how the pioneers lived and the hard never ending work it took to survive on the vast and desolate prairie of Lancaster County, Nebraska.

You can find additional information about and photos of these men on their individual pages under the "Search Graves" tab.

The plat map page will give you an idea of where the precincts were located and where the settlers made their claim and homesteaded.
